The idyllic surroundings of the lake are only enhanced by the spectacular views of the Dolomites.

You can enter the mountain range from the northern half of the lake; spend the summer days crisscrossing the picturesque villages along the water and take pictures with which even the largest filter could compete.

As idyllic in winter as in summer, this city is the ideal choice for anyone who appreciates the traditional aesthetics of fairy tales.

Narrow streets, proud steeples and enough cultural and historical landmarks to interest all tourists, Bressanone is a must if you want to experience the Dolomites.

Bologna

After hearing what Parma has to offer in 2020, it is highly likely that you are now curious about the other amazing cities in the region, are not you?

So, in that spirit, let's talk about Bologna!

Capital of the Emilia-Romagna region, Bologna is home to the oldest university in Europe, has more than 50 museums and, like Parma, is certainly worth a visit if food is high on your holiday list !

The third destination of the Emilia-Romagna region to consider in 2020 is the picturesque city of Modena!

Birthplace of the lyric tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, Modena is nestled between Parma and Bologna, less than an hour's drive from both cities.

Famous for its culture, cuisine and cars - Ferrari has named one of their models after the Italian city - Modena is also home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Piazza Grande, the Duomo of San Geminiano and the Torre Ghirlandina.

Luxuriating in Lazio

Traveling south through the country from Emilia-Romagna, we arrive in the Italian region of Lazio. Lazio is divided into four distinct provinces and is also home to the country's capital, Rome.

One of the most popular cities among travelers in Italy, it's easy to assume that you know what to expect from the capital, but that's not always the case!

With that in mind, it's time to think about what Rome has to offer visitors in 2020!

Rome could be considered a paradise for history lovers, but next year it will be a must-see destination for football fans!

That is true; anyone wishing to participate in the UEFA Euro 2020 would do well to include the Italian capital in its travel plans for next year, since it will host the opening match of the tournament in June, as well as three more at the Stadio Olimpico.

But that's not all! UEFA will celebrate UEFA's first festival, which promises to "bring the city of Rome to life, celebrating arts, culture, music and above all football!"

So, even if you're not lucky enough to get a ticket for one of the games, you'll be perfectly placed to enjoy the unique atmosphere created in iconic tournaments like Euros.

Making the most of Marche

The next stop on our stop whistle tour in Italy in 2020 is the Marche region, which borders the region of Emilia-Romagna.
